About Nickel Label Electroforming

2024-03-06

1. Nickel plate electroforming and electroplating both belong to electrodeposition technology

The main difference is the implementation process method and the different technical requirements during the implementation process. Electroplating is the process of studying the coating of protective decorative and functional metal coatings on workpieces, while electroforming is the process of studying the electroplating copy, the separation method of copy and core mold, and the performance and structure of thick metal and alloy layers.

2. The Application of Faraday's Electromagnetic Law on Nickel Label in Electroforming

Faraday's First Law: When an electric current passes through an electrolyte, the mass m of the substance precipitated or dissolved on the electrode is directly proportional to the amount of electricity Q passed through, expressed by the formula: M=KO=KIT. Faraday's Second Law: For every 1 mol mass of any substance precipitated or dissolved on an electrode, the required amount of electricity is 96500C or 26.8A. h. Molar mass E refers to the ratio of the atomic weight A of the substance to its valence number n, A/n, in g/mol. Based on Faraday's above two laws, it can be summarized as follows: the mass m of the substance precipitated or dissolved on the electrode during electrolysis is directly proportional to the product of the amount of electricity passed through O and the molar mass E (An) of the substance.

3. Passivation and activation of nickel tags (defect analysis)

1) Electrochemical passivation is a special state of anodic polarization process. Causing the consumption of the main salt in the solution during production, which disrupts the stability of the electroforming solution, needs to be prevented.

2) Chemical passivation is the passivation phenomenon of metals in chemical reagents, which are called passivating agents.

3) The activation of metals is a phenomenon that transitions from a passive state to an activated state, which is opposite to the passivation phenomenon. The phenomenon of metal changing from a passive state to an active state is called metal activation, which activates the metal or promotes anodic dissolution, preventing anodic passivation substances from becoming activators.

4. The basic principle of nickel plate electroforming

Electroforming is the process of using a core mold as the cathode in an electrolyte containing a certain metal ion, and applying a certain waveform of low voltage direct current to reduce the electrons of the metal ion, continuously depositing it into metal on the cathode.

When electroforming nickel, the main reaction is that nickel ions gain electrons at the cathode and are reduced to metallic nickel.
